Dorothy O’Brien helps people struggling with workplace injustice. She has successfully represented many employees who have wrongfully been denied overtime, unfairly terminated, harassed on the job and suffered discrimination. Her cases have included sex harassment, wrongful termination, and unpaid wages. Dorothy also assists people by reviewing severance packages and the circumstances of their termination from employment.

In 2013 Dorothy won a large verdict for unpaid wages in favor of hundreds of KBR construction and maintenance employees working at the ADM plant in Clinton, Iowa. In 2012 Dorothy and her son Brent Pelton won a major verdict for unpaid overtime against a New York employer. She has obtained recoveries in other overtime cases against major employers in Iowa and Illinois.

Another special interest of Dorothy is representing women who have suffered from unequal pay.

For many years, Dorothy has received the AV rating from Martindale Hubbell signifying highest legal skills and ethical standards.

Kelsey A. W. Marquard

ATTORNEY

Kelsey Marquard is passionate about ensuring working men and women have a voice. She understands victims of discrimination or other workplace injustices are often at their most vulnerable when they seek legal advice. That vulnerability can be the same regardless of the client’s individual situation, including whether the client is a victim of discrimination, has not been getting paid, has not been paid overtime, or needs to negotiate a severance agreement. Kelsey knows each client is unique and that is why she looks forward to meeting with you and learning about your work experiences.

Kelsey grew up in a blue-collar family in small town in southeast Iowa. Proud of working to put herself through college and law school, Kelsey graduated summa cum laude from St. Ambrose University and with honors from the University of Iowa College of Law. Kelsey practiced litigation in the Quad Cities before becoming a partner at O’Brien & Marquard, P.L.C.
